More pain…

February 28, 2012

So yeah, my right shoulder really hurts right now. I think I might have to skip an upper body workout on Sunday. It got really bad when I was doing my shoulder exercises. It’s been there for a few weeks, but it hadn’t really been that bad. I’ll probably not bother with the upper body on Sunday morning, I’ll have to see how it feels next Thursday.

This is kind of annoying as I went through this already with my left shoulder/back early last month. So now there’s this. But, I’m sure if I take it easy for a week or so, it’ll go away on it’s own.

Week 10 Summary.

February 27, 2012

I’m a couple days late on this. Overall week 10 was much like any other week. I did the work outs, stuck to the right food and did all the workouts. The only problem was on Thursday night/Friday morning when my right knee, the knee that I had ACL reconstruction performed on in 2007 became incredibly sore. I only did 20 minutes of HIIT cardio. I decided to skip the extra 20 minutes Hussman tweak that day. By Saturday morning the pain was gone. The knee is pretty good after 5 years, the only problem I’ve had is when the weather changes suddenly, especially when it gets cold out. My cousins who have had ACL reconstruction said that they experience the sudden weather change soreness as well.

I’ve been really tired lately. I’ve been sleeping a full 7 or 8 hours a night. I think the Hussman tweak has been really kicking my ass.

Saturday night I went out to dinner and I had Chicken Parmesan. Overall it was pretty good, but did they love cramming the plate with as much pasta as possible. I mean it had to be a good three servings on one dish. I ate about 2/3 of it. Since I did pretty good the rest of that day, I didn’t worry too much about it. And Saturday is my free day after all.

So yeah, ready to do well in Week 11.

Week 10 Weight.

February 24, 2012

A week ago I was at 283.6. Today I’m at 282. I hope that I gained a lot of muscle mass this week. Although a bad Saturday probably didn’t help at all. Going to have to be more disciplined this Saturday. Not that almost 2 pounds is really bad or anything, but considering what I was doing the last three weeks before this, it’s a let down.

Also late last night, my knee became very sore. It’s the knee i had ACL reconstruction done on in 2007. Hopefully this is just a little soreness and nothing more serious than that.

Just keep working at it.

February 23, 2012

It’s been a pretty average week so far. I’ll step on the scale tomorrow morning (which lately has been a good motivator) and then Saturday is my free day. We’re taking my dad out for his birthday Saturday night so that should be fun.

I think one of the hard parts for me is looking in the mirror and not being disappointed. Not so much because I haven’t made progress, but because it’s been almost 10 weeks and I don’t feel like I’ve really transformed all that much. As much as I like the compliments from people who say I look skinnier and better, it just seems like when I look in the mirror I just see the same old me. I always knew that 12 weeks would be just the beginning, but in a way I kind of wanted more.

I know some people take pictures every week. I just can’t do that. I would get too frustrated with the lack of change and would probably not notice the change from week 1 to week 8 or week 9 or week 11…

So I got about two more weeks of the first challenge left. I’m looking forward to starting challenge 2. Of course, the real challenge is keeping it going for the long haul…

Bad Saturday.

February 19, 2012

Yesterday was my free day when it comes to food and I think I might have overdone it a little bit. I took an hour long walk last night to sort of make up for it. But it did feel good to have some of the foods I was really starting to miss. Also had a couple beers. But this morning, right back to work on eating the right foods and doing my workouts. Important that if I do eat a bit too much on my free day that I go right back to work on Sunday.

Week 9 Summary and 2 month anniversary.

February 18, 2012

Overall, it was a pretty good week. Both my lower body workouts felt productive and my upper body workout was good too. I did 20 minutes of HIIT cardio on M-W-F and an additional 20 minutes of moderate cardio those days too and 40 minutes of moderate cardio this morning as well. And I dropped another 3.2 pounds. The best feeling is when I put on a shirt I haven’t worn for several years and it fits better than the last time I wore it.

Also, today is the 2 month anniversary of starting on December 18th. I think the interesting thing for me is that I read Body For Life on Saturday the 17th and got started the next day. I read the forums sometimes and it seems odd for me that people will plan this for several days or weeks in advance. I mean, I was pretty motivated to start right away. I felt that if I didn’t start right away, I wouldn’t follow through with it or even do any of it. It was very spur of the moment decision. I think if I would ask myself in week 1 or 2, I’d be kind of surprised that I stuck with it for this long.

I can’t believe that tomorrow is the start of week 10. I can’t wait to see the results of it a week from now. 🙂

Week 9 weight.

February 17, 2012

A week ago I was at 286.8. This morning it’s 283.6. So I lost 3.2 pounds this week. Not too bad

I’m not that inspiring…

February 15, 2012

So yeah, went and hung out with my friends tonight. Instead of the usual pizza that they get, they got a low calorie, thin crust veggie pizza. I had some of it and it wasn’t too terrible. Afterwards I had a Whey Protein shake just to make sure that I got some protein in tonight.

The reason they got that pizza was because I sort of inspired them to eat better as well. They said that they noticed the last couple weeks that I’ve looked noticeably skinnier than I was back in December and November. So they thought that they should as well. She had two kids in three years and he’s sort of gained with her while she was pregnant.

So pretty cool stuff. Time to get to bed so I can get up at 6:30 to do cardio…

Making it meaningful.

February 12, 2012

Got some huge news this morning. My sister is getting married. One of the things that Bill Phillips talked about in that video I linked to a few posts ago was that if you make it meaningful then it becomes important and that takes a front seat to other things. I’ve been kind of looking for something to make it meaningful, so now I think I have a good reason to keep doing it, to keep moving forward: Have to look good and be in good shape for my sister’s wedding.

Time to get groceries and something at Staples.

Week 8 Summary.

February 11, 2012

Is there any better start to a Saturday morning than 40 minutes of moderate cardio and a couple pancakes and some whey protein? I don’t think so. Unless there’s some sex involved, which, yeah, I’m not getting any. 😛

Anyways, besides last night, it was a pretty good week. Workouts were all good, besides my birthday night, stuck with the good food and overall, I feel really good. I don’t have any major aches or pains right now, muscles are sore, but that’s to be expected. It seems like every time I flex my arms, there’s more muscle there and in my legs at well. When I walk by the mirror it seems like there’s less of me. So yeah, it’s finally starting to feel like I’ve made progress. That was the problem with the first seven or so weeks, it felt like I had made minor progress, now it’s really starting to show, I think.

So yeah, I can’t believe that week 9 is starting tomorrow already. Next week at this time, I’ll be 3/4 of the way through the first twelve weeks.
