C2 Week 1 Summary/Weight. Week 15 overall.

March 31, 2012

I was 268 a week ago, today I’m 264.8. So that’s 3.2 pounds in one week. During active rest, I ate a few things I shouldn’t. But I’m now back to lifting so I’m trying to eat clean again. But I’m sure I lost a few pounds off my face, I bought a ten dollar beard trimmer and I trimmed my goatee on Tuesday. So it looks a bit neater and stuff.

I went out to a club Thursday night and I met a young lady there and was talking to her a little bit. She thought I was about 25 years old. I told her I’m 32. She said I looked really good for my age.

My sister is visiting from St. Louis today, so I’m looking forward to a nice free day, which will include a nice meal out tonight, with maybe a beer. Then tomorrow’s my Grandma’s 88th birthday party, so I get to impress relatives with my slightly less flabby body. ๐Ÿ˜€

Update:ย So I talked to my mom and found out my sister is not visiting this weekend. Bummer. Oh well, I’ll probably just have pizza tonight.

Ready to start again!

March 24, 2012

After two weeks of active rest, I’m ready to start challenge 2. Overall I’m feeling pretty good, I’ve been eating good. I went to a vendor appreciation meal Thursday night and had a beer there. They were good at providing mostly healthy food. Had some chicken, potatoes and veggies. They also had cake, which I took a small piece of.

This morning, I was at 268, after being at 269.8 last week. So that’s 1.8 pounds in a week. I took my measurements as well this morning. So I think I’m all ready to start tomorrow morning with Challenge 2, week 1! I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of progress I make in the next 12 weeks. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are my starting pictures:

3 months.

March 18, 2012

Well, as of today, it’s been 3 months of doing BFL. I’ve dropped from 307.2 pounds down to 269.8 and I’ve completed one challenge. Overall, I feel pretty good and the nice thing is that besides some sweets, sugary baked foods and white bread, I haven’t changed my diet much at all. Well I also quit drinking beer too and I’m drinking a lot more water too. So that’s probably the biggest reason for the weight loss at this point in time.

So yeah, pretty cool. I also have an iPad now too. No, it has nothing to do with this, just thought I’d throw that in here.

AR Week 1 Weight.

March 17, 2012

Today I’m at 269.8. 3.2 pounds in one week. I remember being so excited to be at 289. 269 now. That’s pretty cool and stuff. Since I’m on active rest, I thought I’d indulge a bit so I had some regular crust non-veggie pizza Tuesday night with some friends and last night I picked up some Shamrock Shakes from McD’s. So yeah, I don’t really see a benefit to the Hussman tweak at this point in time. This past week, I did 3 HIIT sessions and 3 moderate sessions.

A nice thing about active rest is that I’m not as sore and tired as I was during the last few weeks of the first challenge. However, my right shoulder is still sore. I hope that by this time next week it’s better….

Active Rest.

March 11, 2012

Man, I sure picked a great week to start BFL back in December. At the time, I had no idea that the final rest day would be the day before Day Light Savings Time begins. With my two weeks of Active Rest beginning today, I was able to relax this morning and not worry about going to lift weights. Instead, I went down to the basement and got 20 minutes of moderate cardio in before I ate my egg beaters and whole wheat toast for breakfast.

Also I wonder how much I weighed back around Thanksgiving. I didn’t want to even step on the scale back then. I just thought I’d lift some weights and try to get back in to shape a little bit. Make my shirts bigger and stuff. I was trying on shirts that were in my closet and they just didn’t fit anymore. And the t-shirts weren’t much better, I’d pull on them a bit to make them fit. I started in early December with the weight lifting and I cut calories a bit, which was a good starting point, I think. On the night of December 17th, I remembered that I had that work out book somewhere in my bedroom and that I should take a look at it and see if I could get some good advice out of it. I read through it that night.

And so the next morning I got started with Body for Life. It was a very spur of the moment type thing. I wasn’t sure how long I would stick with it. I wasn’t sure if it was the best plan to be more fit. I just thought “Let’s go with it and see if it works. I mean, it looks like it worked for people in the inside of the cover…”

So yeah, it works pretty well.

Week 12 and Challenge 1 Summary.

March 10, 2012

Week 12 was a bit of a pain. First there was the whole shoulder pain thing to deal with and then on Thursday night I caught a pretty nasty cold. I basically spent Friday sick, I didn’t work out and I didn’t really follow the diet at all. Not that I overate or anything. I just ate some unauthorized foods. However, today I’ve basically stuck with it, not really leaving my comfort zone as far as food goes.

And that’s pretty much it for Challenge 1. I read up on Active Rest and I think that would be a good idea going forward the next week or two. As much as I’m itching to keep weight lifting, it’ll be nice to take a break from it and give the muscles some time to heal. I don’t feel a whole lot different, but from the pictures, I look a whole lot different. I look so different I hardly recognize myself. 273 pounds is still entirely too much, but to think where I started, probably well over 310 around Thanksgiving, 307.2 by mid-December when I started the challenge, 289 at my birthday and now 273 pounds today. (Although next Tuesday instead of veggie pizza, I’m gonna get a Happy Joe’s BLT pizza to celebrate)

So yeah, I would say that Challenge 1 was a complete success and now I’ll have a week or two of active rest and then I’ll get Challenge 2 started. I thought the food would by the hardest part and at first it was, but now after 12 weeks, the food is pretty much second nature to me. The hard part a lot of days is getting up and working out first thing in the morning. I think the active rest thing will be a good chance to rebuild my energy a bit.

Here’s me about 20 minutes ago:

Also I have dropped from 276.8 last week to 273 even this week. I’ve lost 34.2 pounds since I started on December 18th. That is some incredible progress so far.

New Pants.

March 8, 2012

For years, I’ve worn size 46×30 Wrangler Carpenter jeans. Today I had to go to Menards to get a few things for the renovations and thought I’d go to Wal-Mart too since they’re right down the road. I found some cheaper egg substitute there and I looked at the jeans. I grabbed a pair of 44×30 and 42×30. I figured that I wouldn’t fit in to the 42, but just thought I’d see how close I was to fitting in to them.

So I located the dressing room and went inside. I thought I’d try on the 42 first. They not only fit, but they were just as comfortable as the 46 were back in December. There are days where I don’t feel different, but my clothes say otherwise. ๐Ÿ™‚

But now I have about half a dozen size 46 jeans that are too big….

Week 11 Weight and Summary.

March 3, 2012

I forgot to check my weight yesterday so I did it this morning instead. Last week I was at 282 exactly. This morning I was down to 276.8. 5.2 pounds in one week and a day. Pretty cool. So since December 18th when I was 307.2, I’ve now lost a grand total of 30.4 pounds. In 11 weeks. Next week will be picture time and then I’ll be starting on challenge two.

I hope the next 12 weeks after this are just as productive. True, I’ll probably see my weight loss slow down a bit because my eating and drinking habits were so bad before BFL that I think mostly ย the first 12 weeks was the result of changing my eating habits more than the excercise. Not that I haven’t had any results from working out, but I think the eating right was a bigger reason for my weight loss.

The next 12 weeks I’ll be working a lot more in April and May. Unless it keeps snowing like this…
