Week 28.

Last week I was at 236.6. Today I’m at 235.4. Overall, good progress, but I didn’t do too well food wise yesterday and Thursday. Thursday evening I had a hamburger and bratwurst, both on white buns. Then yesterday, I had Mac ‘n Cheese and a hotdog. I would be disappointed in myself if I wasn’t so exhausted from work. 12 and 13 hour days are just taking it out of me. Yesterday morning, I woke up with a leg cramp that hung around for a long time and I decided to not work out.

Work has been making it very hard to care much about BFL, which is why I’m gonna be on AR for three weeks after this. Just as soon as work starts to slow down a bit, I’m going on vacation. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m back up to 240 by the time I start Challenge 3 on July 22nd. I’ll try to be mostly good, but yeah, that might be hard to do.

Week 27

Last week I was at 239.2. This morning I’m at 236.6. That’s officially over 70 pounds of fat loss since the beginning. I was at a club Thursday night and one of the gals who worked there was talking to me and even though I don’t remember seeing her that much, she said I looked amazingly skinnier. I told her how much weight I’ve lost and she was very impressed.

I had a weird dream last night where I went out to a burger place with my sister and her fiancĂ© and was ordering a burger when Dr. Phil came out and told me that I shouldn’t be eating that food because it wasn’t my free day. I tried to explain to him that I was on vacation and that I’ll be back at it, as far as eating right goes the next week. When the food came out, my sister and her fiancĂ© got burgers. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and got a chicken salad. Damn Dr. Phil.

Yeah, so another week to go until three weeks of Active Rest.

Six months already.

I can’t believe that I started six months ago today. It seems like it’s still only been a few weeks. Going from this on December 18th:

Has been a great journey. I’m probably the skinniest I’ve been since I came back from Germany on July 1st, 1998. I wish I felt like I was 18 again, able to stay up until 4:00 in the morning and then go to work at 7:00, but oh well. I haven’t always eaten right and I’ve missed a couple workouts. I still enjoy pizza, beer, hamburgers and cake, but I enjoy them much more in moderation rather tan in an every day setting. They are really ways to treat myself for doing a good job over the course of a week rather than me just feeling like I want them therefore I’m gonna eat them.

I feel more attractive and I feel more confident. Due to BFL, I’ve gone out on my own and learned more about the food I eat and I researched more exercises I can do besides just the ones in the book. I started reading Men’s Health twitter feed and a lot of their articles on their websites. The only annoying thing is that after six months, I have to buy new clothes. One of my ex-girlfriend calls me a “real guy” who would rather wear something that doesn’t fit than have to go out and buy more clothes. I’m just thankful that my feet will remain the same size (I haven’t bought a new pair of shoes in over a year). Mostly buying pants and shorts. I have a lot of shirts that were too small, like the Cutch shirt in the pictures, that I can now wear comfortably.

Anyways, what a great journey it’s been so far and I’m really looking forward to see what the next six months will bring. Good luck and keeping working at it to anyone doing or thinking about doing Body for Life. If a big fat guy like me could do it, then you can too. I got some water to drink and early morning cardio to do!

Challenge 2 is the books! (C2 W12 Week 26)

It is official, I’ve finished two challenges! And I finish this one off in fine style by dropping from 240.2 last week to 239.2 this week. I’m now under 240! Which is a great way to finish it off. Since the beginning back in December I’ve gone from 307.2 to 239.2, which is 68 pounds. Furthermore, I started challenge 2 back in March at 268 and so I’ve dropped 28.8 pounds just during this challenge. That’s six fewer pounds than Challenge 1, but it’s still a pretty good job, I’d say.

Measurements, I’ve dropped from 52 to 47.5 on my waist, My chest dropped from 47 to 43.5, Hips dropped from 48.5 to 44.5, right arm dropped from 16 to 14 and my right leg dropped from 25 to 20.5.

The most gratifying thing are the clothes. I can actually fit in to XL t-shirts now. In fact, I bought a new one yesterday. I never thought I’d reach this point again. And I’m now fitting comfortably in to size 40 pants, another thing I never thought I’d do. I might fit in size 38 pants before I know it.

I’m going to keep working out for another two weeks and then take three weeks of active rest. Work is gonna get crazy busy during active rest, we’re basically changing the way we do everything and it’ll be a crazy two weeks. Then on July 17th, I’m going on vacation. First to my sister’s house in St. Louis, then to Louisville, KY to see the Louisville Slugger museum and then on to Pittsburgh where I’ll hang out with some cool friends, eat some bad (for me) food, drink good beer and watch the Pirates. Then it’s back home again by July 23rd. I’ll start challenge #3 on July 22nd. Anyways, here are the pictures, sorry for the bed head:

C2 W11 Week 25.

Last week I was at 242.2. This morning I’m at 240.2. Overall, another good week. I decided that I will take three weeks of active rest after next week is finished. But then the vacation plans started to come in to focus for late July and I sort of wondered if it would be better to do an additional three weeks, going up to July 7th and then take the next three weeks off. Then start challenge three on July 29th.

I think I’ll just do that.

I put on some shorts yesterday as it’s finally getting warm out and something happened to mine. I can’t put them on without them falling off. I think I might need smaller ones. Also today is my brother’s birthday. Gonna have to get some of that cake today and going out dinner tonight, probably.

By this time next week, I might be under 240 for the first time since the I got out of high school, 12 years ago…

C2 W10 Week 24.

June 2, 2012

Last week I was at 245.4. Today I’m at 242.2. That’s not too bad considering I didn’t do that good of a job on Sunday and Monday this past week as far as nutrition goes. There were family things going on and it was hard to avoid the bad food that was all over the place. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I made up for it. Then yesterday, I went to a ball game in Milwaukee and only had a pork tenderloin sandwich and some fries after noon yesterday from Culvers. Oh and some beer. I wasn’t really hungry at all the rest of the day, had too much fun at the game to really notice.

I think the important thing is that even though I didn’t eat very well on Sunday, Monday and Friday this week, I didn’t eat a lot, I didn’t let myself lose control. Now it’s Saturday again and there’s some pancakes with my name on them in the kitchen. Not literally though…
